| Baltimore Rowing Club Newsletter. Wednesday, May 6, 2009. http://www.baltimorerowing.org When you are rowing well and hard, the rhythm of the stroke takes over: it drives your days and restores your nights. It imparts cadence and direction. You feel like you and the boat are one, you feel that no obstacle will put up any more resistance than the water does to your oars, you feel that hard work and grit and mental toughness will always win it for you in the end. You feel, above all, part of a larger enterprise. The loneliest single sculler no less than the sweep rower in an eight belongs to the fellowship of the river. UPCOMING EVENTS.

Another year has come and gone; as of May 1, the logbook on Concept2 has reset its meter count. Be sure to log your meters (land or water) to keep Baltimore in the lead for club membership totals. · http://www.concept2.com Juniors make nice for the Baltimore City Council.
On November 24, 2008, the Baltimore Rowing Club juniors program was recognized by the Baltimore City Council for the excellence they have achieved in reaching out to the community. This is a true honor because the city only recognizes twelve programs a year as outstanding gems within Baltimore. The rowers, coaches, and support system that the juniors program has is truly remarkable, and they are all the reason people are beginning to notice not only the importance of what we do, but the impact that we have. You can watch the speech given by coach Aly Covino here: http://www.baltimorecitycouncil.com/video_archive.htm (You may need to scroll down a bit.) REGATTA RESULTS.
Baltimore High School Championships. Sunday, May 3.

April 15, 1947 - Jackie Robinson makes his debut for the Brooklyn Dodgers, becoming the first black player in major league history. It is with a heavy heart that we at the Baltimore Rowing Club bid goodbye to Lisa and Patrick Martin. For days too numerous to count, the Martins were insatiable mainstays at the club, and their thankless efforts are already missed. Best of luck as they spend the next few months swimming across the Atlantic Ocean to live in England for a while.
I see you rowed your way into the semis. PERSONS OF INTEREST.
